About the Dunning-Kruger Effect
In 1999, psychologists Justin Kruger and David Dunning published research examining the relationship between performance and people's assessments of their own abilities.
Their findings suggested that people with relatively poor performance in certain domains could substantially overestimate their performance.
Later research has debated the size, interpretation, and statistical explanation of the effect.
Importantly, the difference between one person's predicted and actual score on a short quiz does not establish the Dunning-Kruger effect.
